HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
Your jewellery makes you feel special, so it is only fair if you give it a little extra care every now and then. Handcrafted jewellery is meticulously created and requires maintenance to increase its lifespan and wearability. We have curated a guide on how you can care for your jewellery in just a few steps.
CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY
DO- Rub your silver jewellery with a silver cleaning cloth. This will restore the original brilliance of the surface.
DON’T- Use liquid cleaners or sanitiser for carved jewellery. The residue gets accumulated in the engravings and can be quite tedious to remove. Soaps often leave a film over metals and stones which in turn create a dull appearance.
STORING YOUR JEWELLERY
DO- Store your jewellery in its own pouch or box to prevent scratching, chipping, or entangling.
DON’T- Keep this box or pouch in an environment with humidity, moisture, and extreme temperatures
WEARING YOUR JEWELLERY
DO- Put on your jewellery last when dressing. Cosmetics and perfumes can cause damage to these delicate items.
DON’T- Wear your jewellery while being in contact with hard surfaces, this will wear down the plating and enamel.
BONUS JEWELLERY CARE TIPS!
- Wearing gold-plated silver jewellery for a significant period of time will eventually see it losing its shine. To restore its appearance you can have it re-plated.
- Never use detergent, soap, toothpaste, sanitiser or any such material to clean your gold-plated jewellery.
- Stone jewellery requires extra care and consideration during wearing so as to protect the setting and safeguard the gemstone it holds.
Jewellery care goes hand-in-hand with purchasing jewellery. The relationship between a jewellery owner and their jewellery is a two-way street. Take care of your jewellery and it will age gracefully!
